It has become evident that the genuine essence of responsibility lies in being “response able” or having the ability to respond. Regardless of our thoughts, words, actions, or emotions, these are our responses, and the sole responsibility for them rests with us, not with anyone else. While this concept may seem straightforward, it can be challenging to put into practice, as we have been conditioned to think and believe differently. Consequently, we often react impulsively rather than making conscious choices in our responses, and then we tend to assign blame to others for our reactions. It’s no wonder that we sometimes feel trapped by external influences and our life circumstances.
On the contrary, those who have attained enlightenment have broken free from this pattern; they perceive the illusion for what it is. They wholeheartedly embrace the responsibility for their ability to respond, and as a result, they maintain control over their own destinies. They are liberated spirits.
